Daytrips from Patmos
Arki and Marathi
One marvelous daytrip can be to Arki and Marathi. These islets are administratively owned by Patmos and are extremely peaceful and beautiful. You can easily organize a one-day excursion from the harbor of Patmos to Arki, swim in their blue crystal-clear waters, and eat fresh fish on the beach. The port of Marathi harbors the boats from Patmos and Lipsi and is well hidden beside rocks, which protect the island from the strong winds. For swimming, choose Linari or Tiganaki Beaches. Around the harbor, you will see the old houses made from white stone. In Arki and Marathi you can even stay overnight if you find one of the few rooms to let available.
Chiliomodi is another islet that you can visit. Chiliomodi has become a place of relaxation for visitors. It can be visited in the summer by a private boat that makes daily trips from the port of Skala. Distinguished for its natural and authentic beauty, it has become a pole of attraction in recent years for many tourists.
The Lipsi islands are also worth visiting. Lipsi is the mythical Ogigia – the island of the goddess Calypso. The houses are built amphitheatrically in the middle of a naturally protected bay. You will be able to enjoy the tranquility that their nature generously offers along with the hospitable inhabitants. Lipsi also has beautiful beaches in which to swim, dive, or go fishing.
